The club is free to join for any members
of the driving public, whether you own an FTO or not. The idea is to bring
together a group of people who enjoy their cars, and to promote friends
to join we leave this open to people with various brands of cars.
We regularly organise social events such
as cruises, BBQ's, driver education / training days and other social activities.
As well as this, joining the community gives you better access to the
experience and minds of others involved in the club.
Liability and Rules
When involved in group activities, it
is appropriate to set some standards regarding behaviour of participants
at social events. Use the following as a guide:
During all social events, official road
rules must be observed at all times. If you ignore the rules of the
road and attract police attention as a result, do not expect intervention
of any kind from other attendees.
General behaviour while in public reflects
back onto every other participant. Use common sense.
If you feel the urge to drive at the
limit (either your limit or that of your vehicle's), please save it
for track day. Individuals exhibiting blatant disregard for the safety
of others will simply find their details pulled from the mailing list.
Organisers of social activities have
no liability for loss or damage that may occur during those activities.
Convoys
Whenever multiple vehicles travel together,
there are some common-sense guidelines worth noting:
The driver of the car in front of you
does not have responsibility for your safety - you do! If the
car in front overtakes a vehicle, do not follow simply to "keep together"
- use exactly the same decision making processes you would use on your
own.
Leave a safe distance between yourself
and the car in front. 2 seconds is a good rule of thumb.
If you are leading a convoy, bear in
mind that every vehicle behind you must drive at least as fast
as your speed just to stay together. Any delay suffered by a trailing
vehicle will leave that driver choosing between separation or a speed
increase. Choose your speed accordingly.
If you are leading a convoy, a decision
to overtake a slower vehicle comes with a risk multiplier... Five cars
in a convoy equals five times the risk from that one manoeuvre - assuming
all drivers wish to stay in convoy. Use common sense.
